Description of Purpose
Transparence is a major annual architectural design competition. In the year 2013, the design problem brief stated “An Architectural School: Of the Students, By the Students, For the Students”. An important objective of the competition is to equip students with the knowledge of designing with glass, adding to the challenge. This problem specifically added to the complexity due to the site being located in West Bengal, India, which happens to have a Tropical climate with extreme humidity and warm temperature. Designing with glass with such climatic challenge inspired us to explore an organic form leading to the Venturi Effect due to linear fluidity of the design. This design entry was deemed the most climatically responsive design among all entries.
