A Baby Health Tracking Application for Parents.

DESCRIPTION OF PURPOSE
The application aims to help parents and doctors track their newborns health from day 0 to age 6 years old. The application enables tracking of vital signs, tracking of events such as feed or poop, and track medically relevant events such as fever, temperatures or growth signs.
Goal is to build an application which is simple and intuitive to use for a parent already occupied in managing and taking care of their baby. Use of data visualization to share the collected data with parents in a simple and understandable manner and get a holistic view of the babies health patterns is an extended objective, along with use of machine learning to create predictive patterns based on the data collected so far to better understand the babies health and growth scenario.

VISUAL DESIGN
One of my major tasks was creating visuals for the application around the baby theme. As you can see below, I chose a color palette of pastel shades commonly related with innocence and delicacy. This task needed me to create visuals for icons and logos.
INITIAL IDEAS
I started developing the visual scheme for this project based on the design vocabulary to be adopted.
Being an application based on babies, I tried to design with the graphics that were suggestive of a babies innocence and delicacy.
I started penning down thoughts and ideas for various ways I could use symbols and icons to signify different aspects of the data being logged by the parent.

This application is centered around baby health tracking which implies vast amount of variegated data. The task was to provide insight on the health pattern based on recorded data. This task was magnified by a large variety of data types involved.
Logging New Data
Since babied grow rapidly, this implies that parents need to log data frequently creating the need to an effective, data logging measures.

PROJECT INSIGHTS & TRADEOFFS
The task of designing an application based on health tracking was a tremendous challenge in itself. The process was thorough and intense and revealed invaluable insights which contributed to my learning as a designer and researcher.
One of the major challenges was designing features and pages that required data visualization of complex data while creating a fluid connection to constant new data feed. One of my main take- away’s from this project was the importance of presenting select information from a large pool of data effectively.
